Do I need Visa or e-visa to Vietnam?
Most visitors will need to apply for a visa or e-visa to Vietnam. People in some African countries and South East Asia are exempt from Vietnam visa. Citizens of North American and some European countries will need to apply for a visa.
Why? Most countries require visas for citizens of other countries upon entry. Some governments require visitors to obtain a visa prior to arrival, while others issue visas to everyone upon arrival. Visitors must apply in advance for a visa approval letter, then get an official visa stamp in their passport upon arrival in the country. Fortunately, the visa approval letter application can be completed and submitted online.
Vietnam visa exemption

To stay beyond this number of days, you can apply for a visa extension when you’re already in Vietnam.
Vietnam E-visa
Vietnam visa is a type of travel document issued by a competent Vietnamese agency, allowing entry and exit into Vietnam.
Electronic visa (E-visa) is one of the types of visas issued by the Immigration Department of Vietnam to foreigners through the electronic system. Vietnam e-visa is valid for up to 30 days, single entry.
Foreigners outside Vietnam who want to enter Vietnam can directly apply for an e-visa or through an inviting/guaranteing agency or organization.
Fees for electronic visa issuance are paid via electronic payment gateways according to regulations of the Immigration Department. Fees will not be refunded if the application is denied.

Conditions to be granted an e-visa:
Foreigners outside Vietnam;
Have a valid passport;
Not falling into the cases of temporary entry suspension specified in Article 21 of the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.
